Description

A war memorial erected after the First World War dedicated to the men of Brewham who lost their lives whilst serving their country, and subsequently to those who lost their lives in the Second World War. The monument is constructed in marble and consists of an obelisk set on a square plinth. To its front the top of the obelisk has, carved in relief, a wreath with below an unfurled flag. The sides of the square base are inscribed with leaded lettering: TO THE GLORY OF GOD - AND IN GRATEFUL - MEMORY OF THOSE WHO DIED - IN THE - GREAT WAR - 1914 -1918 - (3 Names) THE LORD REDEEMETH THE SOUL OF - HIS SERVANTS; AND NONE OF THEM - THAT TRUST IN HIM SHALL BE DESOLATE - PSALM. XXXIV. 22 1939-1945 - (2 Names) - GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN - THIS, THAT A MAN LAY DOWN - HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS. ST JOHN. XV.13 (9 Names)
