Description

The remains of a walled garden date back to the 18th century. The walls are constructed of red sandstone random rubble on the garden side, faced with red brick in a garden wall bond, and feature sandstone coping. They stand approximately 3 metres high. The walls extend about 140 metres on each side of the Garden House and return east and west for about 100 metres. The west side, which faces the road, was largely obscured by ivy during the survey in November 1983. It is likely that the garden was never fully enclosed at the southern front.
