Description
The garden wall and walled garden located to the north, north-west, and west of Ord House are significant structures. The garden wall dates from the early 18th century, while the walled garden is likely from the late 18th century. The older sections of the wall are made of squared stone, while the later parts feature well-dressed stone lined with brick in English Garden Wall bond.
The wall stands approximately 8 feet high and extends about 70 yards in length, with a flat coping on top. It connects straight to the high north wall of the walled garden, which is ramped down three times to follow the natural slope of the land. The side walls of the walled garden also ramp down at the south end to meet a lower south wall, which also has flat coping.
