TWEEDMOUTH BREWERY LANE The Old Brewery
(Formerley listed as The Old Brewery, BREWERY LANE)
II C18 and early C19 complex of buildings. All are of coursed stone, stone rubble, some squared and of varying course depth. Roofs mainly pantiled but some Welsh slate. On the west front, to Main Street a large building of one storey, basement and attic dormers, five irregular bays, of large squared stonework with heavy quoins, jambs and lintels of pale red sandstone, barred openings. From this high plain wall links with No 1 and 2 Brewery Bank (qv).
To north a C19 building of smaller, even coursing with a wagon entrance in the gable end to Brewery Lane. A wall with an angled shed inside and a yard entrance runs south eastwards to two kiln and drying buildings, the first of three storeys, four bays with kiln at north end, the second a two storey, invert bay shed having a raised attic with louvred sides. C19 windows have been inserted; the stonework is irregular. A one storey link runs westwards on Brewery Bank to Nos 1 and 2. From Brewery Lane may be seen a large kiln building with a pyramidal slated roof topped by a chimney.
The whole assemblage appears to be complete and form a most picturesque group with its sloping site and varied roof line.
