Description
Bilboa House, also marked on the Ordnance Survey map as Bilboa Cottage, is a house dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 17th century. It is constructed from coursed Doulting rubble with dressed quoins and features a tile roof adorned with fishscale bands, coped verges on kneelers, and rubble stacks, one of which has been restored. The house has a virtually symmetrical lobby entrance design and stands two storeys tall with six bays. It includes three-light reserved chamfer mullioned windows with stopped labels on the ground floor and relieving arches over sore openings.
At the centre of the façade is a two-storey gabled porch with ashlar facing, coping, and a base for a finial. Above the porch, there is a three-light stone mullioned window on the first floor, and on the ground floor, there are single light openings with pointed heads on the right side and a quatrefoil on each side. The broad segmental-headed outer door opening has a chamfered stone surround, leading to a similar inner opening with a ribbed and studded door. There is also a smaller door opening at the extreme left of the frontage. Inside, the house features a fireplace with a moulded four-centred opening, above which is an elaborately moulded mantle supported by shafts that spring from octagonal bases, along with a cross-beamed ceiling.
