Description

The lock-up, dating from the 17th century, is a small rectangular structure built from Doulting rubble with dressed quoins. It features a pyramidal stone tile roof topped with a circular stone capping. The front has a central pointed arch door opening set in a block surround, which is fitted with a studded vertical plank door that has an iron surround and strap hinges. There is also a small square peephole with a hinged iron barred grille. Inside, there is a second door of a similar style. This lock-up is noted for being an unusually complete survival of its kind.
