Description
The former reading room, now a store, dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed of Doulting and local limestone rubble, topped with a stone tile roof featuring coped verges and a small brick stack. The building has false lead gabled dormers and is designed in a plain classical style. It is two storeys high with six bays. The first floor features 18-pane sash windows set in moulded stone architraves on bull-nosed sills. On the ground floor, there are four two-light beam moulded stone mullioned windows, and a door opening is located between the third and fourth bays, which has a plank door. The right return includes a broad segmental-headed opening with 20th-century plank doors, and there are also sliding plank doors on the right return, also from the 20th century.
