Description

LONGHIRST LONGHIRST VILLAGE NZ 2289 (East side) 10/30 Church Hall GV II Church Hall, formerly reading room. Mid C19. Squared stone with ashlar quoins and dressings. 1 storey, 3 narrow bays. 18-pane casement windows in moulded surrounds under hoodmoulds. Dentil eaves cornice, coped gables with moulded kneelers. Octagonal ashlar right end stack, left end octagonal bellcote; round-headed opening beneath gablet. Flanking lower pent porches with 9-panel doors; similar surrounds and detail to central block. Returns show small circular openings with raised surrounds, above porch roofs. C20 brick rear wing not of interest.
