Description
Robin Hood's Bay Museum and Reading Room is a reading room, library, and museum that underwent remodelling around 1900 of an older building. It features peaked coursed stone with ashlar dressings and a pantiled roof with a stone ridge, coping, and kneeler, along with a brick stack. The structure has two storeys with two bays and a left entrance bay that is one storey high.
On the left side of the main building, there is a boarded door with large hinges under a flattened ogee lintel, and the surround is hollow-chamfered. To the right, there are three-light stone-mullioned windows with leaded glazing. The first-floor string course is visible, with a two-light stone-mullioned window on the right and a single light on the left, all of which are chamfered. The left bay contains a similar door and a round-arched upper window topped with a cross finial, along with an ornamental rainwater head positioned between them. The swept roof has coping and a kneeler at the left end and a stack at the right end. The rear elevation reveals older masonry and includes one small fixed light with headed glazing, a boarded-up chamfered window in the right bay, and a rooflight.
