Description
Hillcot is a small cottage dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. The exterior features incised rendered walls made of roughly-tooled mixed sandstone. The roof is pantiled, using stone pantiles and kneelers, and there is a brick chimney stack. The building is one storey high, with an attic and a basement. The front of the cottage is mostly blank, except for a door located in a small extension on the right. On the left side, there is a six-panel basement door and a small sash window to the right, along with a small attic sash window above a blank first floor. The rear elevation displays two sections; on the right, there is a three-light window with a bottom centre opening section and a 12-pane sash window above it, as well as an inserted rooflight. The taller left section features end coping on a curved kneeler. The linking section has a lower-pitched roof and contains a modern casement window.
