Description
Littlewood Cottage is a small cottage, possibly converted from a wash kitchen, dating from the 17th century with later additions from the 19th or 20th century. The original right bay features a ground floor made of large coursed rubble, with brick above and a rendered gable end. The addition is constructed from herringbone-tooled sandstone. The cottage has a pantiled roof with a rendered stack and consists of one storey, an attic, and a basement, with one bay in the main part.
On the street front, there is a fixed light and a casement window, both from the 20th century. The left end has a stack, while the left return features a late 19th-century Yorkshire sash window and two late 19th-century sashes in the attic. A band marks the top of the stonework. The addition is canted round to the left, with a small cellar door on the right and a small modern casement window on the left. There is a modern wood extruded porch at the junction. The roof sweeps up on the left side, following the line of the cant. On the extremely narrow end, there is a half-glazed Dutch door with a tiny leaded casement window above. The cottage is included for its group value.
