Description
FYLINGDALES SUNNYSIDE NZ 9504 Robin Hood's Bay
19/212 Nos 5 and 6 (Mariners' Cottage and Olsen Cottage)
GV II Pair of house, mid-late C18. Coursed herringbone-tooled sandstone; pantiled roofs. Each 2 storeys and attic, 1 wide bay. Doors paired in centre: No 5 C20, No 6 possibly Victorian, both half-glazed, under bracketed flat hoods which are not original. No 5 has a mid C19 sash, with wide margin, projecting cill and wood architrave, on each floor. No 6 has a 3-light fixed window with 5-pane transom section, probably early C20, to left of door and replaced 16-pane sash, with wood architrave and projecting cill, above. Ground-floor windows have extended lintels with wall flush keystones; and similar keystones above doors. No 5 has raking half- dormer with sash like first floor window; No 5 has a C20 flat-headed dormer with modern casements.
