Description

Fieldside is a small cottage, likely originally a raised wash kitchen, dating from the early and later 19th century. The ground floor is constructed of roughly herringbone-tooled coursed sandstone, while the first floor is brick. It has a pantiled roof with stone copings and kneelers, a brick chimney, and a copper roof over a dormer. One gable end is rendered. The main south-west facing front is one and a half storeys high and has two bays. There is an off-centre boarded door with a small sash window to its left, and a 20th-century two-light casement window to the right. An early 20th-century sash window is situated above in a half-dormer. Wide stone copings are present on block kneelers, and a chimney is on the right-hand end. The left return to the street is blank except for a small fixed window. A lean-to extension is located on the north-east side. The cottage is included on the list for its contribution to the group value of the surrounding buildings.
