PITMINSTER CP POUNDISFORD Barn, about 50m east of Poundisford Park

GV II

Aisled barn. Early C18. Timber framed (elm), on rubble plinth, weatherboarded dado and gable ends, triple Roman tiled roof continued as catslide roof over shelter sheds on north and south sides, lean-to on west gable end. Plan: 7-bay aisled barn; catslide roofs over 3-bay shelter sheds on north and south sides flanking entrance, 4-bay shelter shed west end. Corner braced tie beams to gable ends and entrance bay trusses, others sling-braced, collar beams and purlins. Structure intact but overall condition poor, north-east shelter shed largely demolished. An interesting and attractive agrigultural building, probably contemporary with the stables at Poundisford Park (qv). (VAG Report, unpublished SRO, November 1972).
