Description
This is an early 18th-century aisled barn located about 50 meters east of Poundisford Park. It features a timber frame made of elm, resting on a rubble plinth, with weatherboarded dado and gable ends. The barn has a triple Roman tiled roof that continues as a catslide roof over shelter sheds on the north and south sides, and there is a lean-to on the west gable end. The barn has a plan consisting of seven bays, with catslide roofs over three-bay shelter sheds on the north and south sides flanking the entrance, and a four-bay shelter shed at the west end. The barn includes corner braced tie beams at the gable ends and entrance bay trusses, while other beams are sling-braced, with collar beams and purlins. Although the structure is largely intact, its overall condition is poor, and the north-east shelter shed has been largely demolished. This barn is an interesting and attractive agricultural building, likely built around the same time as the stables at Poundisford Park.
