Description
This is a barn located to the north-west of Pound Farmhouse, dating from the late 17th century with alterations made in the late 19th century. The barn is constructed from coursed rubble with dressed stone at the midstreys, timber lintels, and a stone slate roof. It has a cruciform shape with east and west midstreys and consists of six bays. There are plank doors at each midstry, featuring flush relieving arches above the lintels, and a two-light opening beneath the gable. Each gable end is topped with ball finials, and the roof extends into a catslide to the left of the east midstry. Inside, the barn retains its original butt-purlin roof structure, which includes 19th-century scissor-bracing between the collar and tie beams. There is also a former granary loft suspended over the east midstry.
