Description

Oatridge Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of squared and coursed rubble with rendering, stone dressings, some timber lintels, and has a gabled stone slate roof featuring a triple centre ridge stone stack and a stone stack at the left end. The building has an L-shaped layout, with the main block facing south, a rear service wing to the north-east corner, and a stair tower in the angle. The internal layout features a lobby entry.

The south front has two storeys and six bays. The windows in the left-end ground-floor bay and upper floor are chamfered cross-mullions with small-pane leaded casements. There are two 3-light, 19th-century leaded-pane casements on the ground floor, and two blocked windows. An off-centre doorway has a gabled porch supported by latticework posts and a plank door. A continuous string course runs over the ground-floor windows, incorporating flush relieving arches. A moulded cornice and a deep overthrow define the eaves. The rear wall of the main block has sash windows.

Inside, a ground-floor room to the right features a moulded beam with a plaster frieze of pine cones. There is a circular newel back stair, a dog-legged main stair with turned balusters and square newel posts, and an original butt-purlin roof structure with some renewal of rafters.
