Description
White Gate House is an early 19th-century house constructed from squared and coursed rubble, featuring flush rusticated dressed stone quoins and stone dressings. It has a gabled stone slate roof with end stone stacks and is two stories tall with an attic. The south front has three windows, which are 16-pane sashes set in deep reveals with flush stone surrounds. There are two hipped dormers along the eaves line, each with small pane 2-light casements. The central entrance consists of a panelled door with four glazed lights and a spoked fanlight. At the rear, there is a kitchen extension. Surrounding the property are low dressed stone boundary walls to the south, which include square gate piers with cambered copings and pier tops. A simple wrought iron gate, painted white, presumably gives the house its name.
