Description
Dean Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated to 1773, as indicated on the west gable end. It was restored and extended in 1923 by Paul Phipps, which is also noted on the west gable end. The building is constructed of squared and coursed rubble with flush rusticated dressed stone quoins, stone dressings to the voussoirs, and features gambrel stone slate roofs with a central hipped valley. There are end stacks with stone bases and brick caps. The farmhouse has a rectangular plan with low courtyard extensions added in 1923, using similar materials. It is two storeys high with an attic and has a three-window south front. The windows in the outer bays are tripartite sashes, while the central upper window is a 16-pane sash. Additionally, there are three hipped dormers, a pedimented timber doorcase, and a six-panel door with two top glazed lights. The interior underwent complete remodelling in the 1920s.
