Description

Woodfold's Farmhouse is a former farmhouse that has been converted into a detached house. It dates from the late 17th century and has undergone alterations in the 19th century, a restoration and additions in 1938-1939 by Thomas Rayson, and a further addition in 1980 by Brakspear. The building is constructed of squared and coursed rubble with flush rusticated dressed stone quoins, timber lintels, and stone slate roofs featuring lateral end stone stacks.

The farmhouse has a T-shaped plan with north and south service wings attached to the west-facing central block, along with a rear 20th-century range. The west front features a two-storey and attic central section with two windows, flanked by lower one-storey and two-storey wings. The windows consist of three-light casements on the ground and first floors of the central block, and two-light casements under the gables in the attic. The left wing has small pane casements, while the right wing features small leaded pane casements.

A central gabled stone slate porch supported by timber posts leads to a part-glazed plank door. Inside, the central ground floor room includes a large inglenook fireplace with chamfered jambs and several chamfered beams. The original roof structure consists of butt-purlins and collar beams, with plank partitions and several 17th-century oak plank doors.
