Description
Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse with origins dating back to the late 17th century, featuring alterations and additions from the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries. The building is constructed of rubble with some areas rendered, and it has stone dressings and gabled stone slate roofs. The main range has three stone stacks, with an additional tall stone stack on the left addition. The farmhouse has an irregular Z-shaped plan, consisting of a main L-shaped block and an early 20th-century wing at the southwest corner.
The main block is two storeys high and has a mix of 18th and 19th-century sash windows, including 12-pane, 16-pane, and tripartite sashes. The south front features a canted sashed bay with a stone slate roof on the right and a large hipped porch supported by circular stone piers on the left. The 20th-century wing is two storeys with an attic and has 2-light casement windows. The north front includes a 20th-century shell-hooded doorway with a glazed door. Inside, there is a dog-legged staircase with square newel posts and turned balusters.
