Description
Blue Mantle House Hotel is a two-storey building with a painted brick front, dating from the 18th century, though it has undergone later alterations. The doorway is dated 1887. It features an eaves cornice and a slate roof that is swept at the eaves. The building has three sash windows with glazing bars. There are also a pair of later splayed bays with tented tops and cast iron balconettes, which have fixed small-pane glazing. On the left side, there is a brick doorway with a cornice, a segmental entrance arch that has an incised keystone, and a glazed door.
Blue Mantle House Hotel, along with Nos 2 to 6 (even), forms a group with the United Reformed Church on Fore Street, as well as the lamp standards, railings, steps, and walls of the United Reformed Church, the Three Cups Hotel, and No 34 Fore Street.
