Description
The Three Cups Hotel, located on Fore Street, is a Grade II listed building likely dating from the first half of the 18th century. It is a single long structure with a two-storey rendered front, featuring wooden eaves and a continuous slate roof. A central chimney stack is positioned at the rear. The facade includes five windows: two sashes with glazing bars on the left and three wooden casements with two and three lights on the right. To the left, there is a pair of three-light splayed bays with sashes that flank a carriage arch. This arch has an elliptical head and a rusticated surround with a keystone. The walls of the passage are made of painted brick and wood studding. There is a small doorway in the center, accessed by two steps, and a second small doorway to No 34, which is reached by a projecting flight of steps to the right. The Three Cups Hotel and No 34, along with the adjoining United Reformed Church and the properties at Nos 2 to 6 Mantle Street, form a cohesive group.
