Description
The Pump House, located 18 metres southeast of Plot Corner on Martock Road in Long Sutton, is a pump house built in the early 20th century that covers a 19th-century pump. It is constructed from local lias stone, which is squared and boasted, and features a Welsh slate roof with gabled overhangs on all four sides. The building has a square plan and includes an elliptical arched opening in the west wall, which is adorned with a deep keystone. Inside, there is an early 19th-century cast iron pump, signed by W. Rowe from Yeovil. The pump's top cover and handle are missing, and it has a banded stalk that increases in diameter, leading to a moulded and banded spout.
