Description

The former Pump House is a 19th-century structure that reuses a porch from the 17th century or earlier. It is built from ham stone rubble and ashlar, topped with a stone slate roof. The building has a square plan and is a single storey. It features a wide moulded pointed arch on the southeast side, which has small carvings on the jambs. This arch may date back to the 15th or 16th century. Above the arch, there is a stone inscribed with "1662/NN/SVCCESS--" and the roof includes moulded gable end rafters made from reused timbers from the 16th or 17th century. The Pump House was originally the porch to the vicarage that existed before 1870, which was located closer to the church. This building is primarily noted for its local historical significance.
