Description
The former vicarage, now a hotel, was built in 1870 and designed by Henry Hall. It is constructed from local stone that is cut and squared, with ashlar dressings. The roof is made of plain clay tiles and features coped gables, along with ashlar stone chimney stacks, some of which are octagonal and all have moulded caps. The building has a closed 'U'-plan and consists of two storeys, an attic, and a basement.
The north elevation has three gabled bays, with the central bay recessed and featuring a projecting flat-roofed porch. This porch has a moulded flat-headed archway with two stone-carved panels above, including an upper circular panel with a shield and the inscription "Wilborne Port Sigillum." The first and third bays have projecting chimney stacks and attic windows. The south garden elevation also has three bays, with a plinth and a string course between the floors. It features chamfered mullioned and transomed windows, a two-storey angled bay window in the first bay, and a single-storey bay window in the third bay, with no window in the lower second bay. The outer gables have attic windows, and the central dormer has elaborate bargeboards. Other elevations are designed to match.
The main rooms on the ground floor have seen little alteration. The building is significant in its context with the nearby church and school, as well as sharing the same designer.
