Description

Nos 26, 26B, and 27 Kilver Street is a country house that has been modified to form three houses, now serving as offices. It dates from around 1650 and was refronted around 1750. The building is constructed of rubble with rough quoins and features a slate roof, a moulded eaves cornice, and ashlar stacks with moulded caps, arranged in a group of three set diagonally on a stone plinth at the center.

The structure is two stories high with six bays, featuring sashes with glazing bars set in moulded stone architraves. There are triple light openings from around 1800 on the left side. The building has three doorways: the rightmost doorway has a semi-circular head in a moulded surround with imposts, flanked by reeded and fluted pilasters, and topped with an open triangular pediment on moulded brackets. This doorway has a half-glazed door and a decorated fanlight above. The central doorway has a square head with a moulded architrave and a triangular pediment on shaped stone consoles, leading to a six-panelled door. The left side doorway is now blocked.

Remnants of earlier stone cruciform casements with triangular pediments can still be seen in the wall. Additionally, there is a two-story, two-bay wing at right angles to the main facade, featuring a coped verge topped with a ball finial.
