Description
No. 86 Kilver Street is a house dating from around 1600, which was remodelled around 1850. It is constructed from limestone rubble with squared quoins and freestone detailing, topped with a slate roof and featuring two block stacks. The building has a rectangular plan and presents a mid-Victorian appearance. It is two storeys high with three bays. The central entrance has a square-headed door opening, flanked by a 12-light sash window on one side and a smaller 12-light sash window on the other, all set within plain architraves. The first floor has three similar sash windows. At the rear, there is a three-light mullion window, each light hollow moulded with a four-centred head. Inside, the downstairs passage features a four-centred depressed-arch door opening under a square head, with carved spandrels. The house is primarily listed for these two early features.
