Description

Langley Hall is a small country house, dated 1696, that has been converted into three dwellings. It is constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and an attic.

The entrance front displays a projecting plinth with a moulded ashlar top, and ashlar quoins at the corners, along with ashlar bands between the ground, first, and attic storeys. The facade is symmetrically arranged with seven bays. The central doorway is framed by a painted ashlar surround, featuring a moulded doorcase with arched panels on either side and diamonds containing star motifs. Above the doorcase is a console that supports a semi-circular hood with double shell moulding beneath. A date stone in a cartouche is positioned at the center, with a primitively carved face below it. The entrance features a half-glazed 20th-century door and 20th-century horned sash windows on either side, each with 4 x 6 panes set in plain ashlar surrounds. The first floor has seven similar windows and three gabled dormers in the attic, each with 4 x 4 sash panes. To the right of the entrance, there are four bays with windows of 4 x 6 sash panes, some casement windows on the ground floor, and a doorway in the second bay from the right. The entrance front is a well-proportioned example of provincial Renaissance architecture.

The rear of the building has scattered fenestration, including mezzanine lights. The interior has not been inspected.
