Description

The canal milestone, located south of Bridge Number 43 on the Macclesfield Canal, dates from around 1831. It is made of roughly hewn stone and features a shaped block with a segmentally-arched head. The front of the milestone is inscribed with the words 'From Marple 12 miles', while the reverse side contains an inscription that is partially illegible, stating 'From Hall Green [illegible] miles'.
