Description

This is a canal milestone dating from around 1830, created for the Macclesfield Canal Company. It is made of ashlar sandstone, which is shaped at the top and tooled on the sides. The north face of the milestone displays the inscription "From/Hall Green/121/4 Miles," while the south face reads "From /Marple/14 Miles."
