Description

Radcliffe Lodge is a country house, dating to the late 18th century. It has been divided into several separate dwellings. The house is constructed with a render finish over red brick, with ashlar stone dressings. The roof is slate, hidden behind a parapet with a cornice. There are four lateral, two ridge, and one rear chimney stack, all rendered. A painted plinth runs along the base of the building. The facade is arranged with two storeys and eight bays. The central two bays project slightly and are topped with a pediment. A large, single-storey bow, topped with an iron balustrade, spans two bays and contains three single-pane sash windows. A doorway with a partly-glazed door and marginal lights/overlights is situated to the right, alongside two similar sash windows. To the left are a single sash, a doorway with a multi-paned door and marginal lights/overlights, and a further sash window. Above are eight matching, smaller sash windows. A lower, two-storey, four-bay range is set back to the left, with altered window openings. At the rear, a doorway features chamfered, rusticated pilasters and fluted imposts supporting a frieze and cornice decorated with triglyphs.
