Description
The Manor House is a late 17th-century building that has been converted into a private nursing home, with 19th-century and 20th-century alterations and extensions. It is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and has a rendered base. The roof is slate, featuring two red brick gable stacks. The gables are ashlar coped with kneelers, and the building has ashlar quoins.
The house is two storeys high and has three bays, with the outer single bays being gabled. The central porch, added in the 19th century, is gabled and contains an inner panelled and part glazed door with an overlight. To the left of the porch is a single 19th-century canted bay with a single sash window flanked by two narrow sashes. To the right, there is a 20th-century projecting bay with a large tripartite sash window. Above each of the outer bays, there are two 20th-century glazing bar casements set under segmental arches. The building features ten 'X' tie plates.
To the right and set back is a lower two-storey, three-bay wing, built in the 19th century with a red brick exterior and a rendered base. This wing has a slate roof with a single red brick ridge stack and an ashlar coped right gable with a kneeler. It contains two casements and a single tripartite casement, all under segmental arches, with two glazing bar casements above. The left wall and rear of the building show remains of, and restored, two-light ashlar mullion casements.
