3/69 The Barn to Fordhay House, with Barn Cottage, 10 metres East of House - GV II

Barn, part converted into cottage. C18. Local stone rubble with Ham stone dressings; plain clay tiles over stone slate base courses between coped gables. 2-storeys, 9-bays, of which 3-bays represent the cottage. Approach stairs to upper floor on South side, with 'L' plan staircase of worn stone treads on brick base and wrought iron handrail. East elevation has 2 plain casement windows with external iron bars, and plain doorway, all under floor level; three North end bays (cottage) have C20 timber casements under exposed timber lintels. Collar and tie braced roof trusses with double purlins, some timbers pit sawn. Important element in the Fordhay House (qv) group.
