Description

Old Court Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating to 1700, situated on the south side of High Street in East Chinnock. The building is constructed of local stone, squared and cut, featuring Ham stone dressings. The roof is covered with double Roman clay tiles, replacing what was originally thatch, and features coped gables with brick end chimney stacks. The farmhouse is two storeys high with three bays. The front elevation has three-light casement windows with single horizontal glazing bars, set beneath exposed timber lintels. A central front door has four reeded panels and two upper glazed panels within a slightly chamfered surround, topped with a massive stone lintel, which is crowned with a square label. Incised on the lintel is an inverted heart containing the letter "B" and the date 1700. Two extensions at the rear of the building are of decreasing height.
