Description

Wardour Cottage and the adjoining cottage to the south are two dwellings that were originally a farmhouse, which was enlarged and later divided. The building dates from the late 16th to early 17th century and was refenestrated and enlarged in the early 19th century. The right side is rendered over rubble, while the left side features chert random rubble with brick dressings, which was originally rendered. The roof of the original dwelling is steeply pitched and covered with tiles, while the adjoining section has a shallow pitched slate roof with coped verges and brick stacks at the gable ends.

The original dwelling, known as Wardour Cottage, has a two-cell layout with a cross passage, and the south end has been rebuilt as a double pile house. The building has two and one and a half storeys with three bays on the left and three bays on the right. The left side features 12-pane sash windows, while the right side has three-light casements and a single-storey projection at the end. There is a flat-roofed Ham stone Tuscan Doric porch with a leaded fanlight and an early 20th-century part-glazed door located to the left, with another door positioned centrally on the right. The interior has not been seen.
