Description

PITMINSTER CP ST21NW BLAGDON HILL 10/98 Knight's Farmhouse II Farmhouse. Late medieval open hall house, ceiled C17, roof raised subsequently, refenestrated late C19-early C20.Roughcast over cob, rebuilt right gable end, double Roman tile roof, brick stacks right gable end, to left of cross passage, on rear elevation external rubble stack with rebuilt brick chimney rising below roof ridge. Plan: single ended open hall house with solar jettied out into hall, ceiled to 3-cell and cross passage. Two storeys, 4 bays; all 3-light casements except for small hinged casement above entrance in second bay right, half-glazed C19 door, C20 porch raking buttress right gable end and window formerly lighting stair. Interior not seen, said to contain evidence of arch braced jointed cruck truss roofed open hall with framed partition to solar jettied into hall with small window, 9-panel steeply chamfered compartment ceiling to hall, unusual plinth to rear of hall stack.
