Description

Knight's Farmhouse is a house that dates back to the 16th century or earlier, with later additions and alterations. The building features exposed timber framing on the first floor and red brick casing on the ground floor. It has a red plain tiled roof with a gable on the right side and an off-centre large red brick chimney stack. The house is two storeys tall, with a single-storey red brick extension to the left that has a grey slate roof.

Architectural details include arched braces at the first-floor angles and three casement windows with cross transoms. On the ground floor, there are four small paned vertically sliding sash windows with segmental heads, along with a six-panel door that also has a segmental head. Inside, there is an inglenook fireplace featuring a cast-iron grate and hobs, chamfered bridging joists, and flat section ceiling beams. The staircase has a central newel and stick balusters, with an earlier moulded handrail on the lower section.

The original rear wall features a mullion window, and there are jowled storey posts. An arch-braced tie-beam is located by the chimney stack, with one brace cut away. The bedroom has a plastered chamfered segmental arched fireplace surround, and there is a panelled door with original ironmongery.
