Description
Knight's Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed with a timber frame that is encased in red brick from the mid to late 19th century. The roof features glazed black pantiles at the front and corrugated asbestos sheeting at the rear. The building has two storeys and an attic, designed in a two-cell form with a lobby entrance. The 19th-century large-paned casement windows are set under segmental arches. A gabled brick porch with wavy bargeboards, which matches the brick casing, leads to a mid-20th-century entrance door. Inside, there is an internal stack with shafts that have a sawtooth pattern, although it was rebuilt in the mid-20th century in an altered form. The timber frame remains intact but is mostly concealed, except in one room where there is good studding and evidence of two large windows. The original newel stairs are present, along with an original door leading to the attic flight. The attics have been modernized, and the roof timbers are concealed.
