Description

This is a 17th-century, early 18th-century, and early 19th-century farmhouse, now divided into two dwellings, known as The Priory and Priory Cottage. The original section of the building is located at the rear and consists of two storeys with a timber frame, now rendered. It has a corrugated asbestos roof and a reduced central chimney made of local brick. The front door is framed by plain pilasters and an entablature with a decorative boss, a projecting cornice, and a six-panelled door. A parallel cross-wing, dating to the 18th century, stands alongside the road. It is constructed of rendered brick and features kneelers on the parapet gable and a chimney on the left-hand side. The roof is tiled. Four modern casement windows are located on each floor of this wing. To the right is a two-storey block with a rendered brick facade, a parapet, and a hipped slate roof. It has three first-floor sash windows with glazing bars and margin lights. Below, there were originally three similar full-length windows on the ground floor. A six-panelled door is on the left-hand side, framed by plain pilasters, an entablature, and reveals, topped by a rectangular fanlight.
