Description

Blue House and Blue House Cottage are two dwellings resulting from the division of an earlier building. The left (west) part of the house is of 17th and 18th century timber frame construction, clad in weatherboarding, and has a red plain tiled gambrel roof with a central red brick chimney stack. It is one storey high with attics, featuring two gabled dormers and two small ground floor windows with two lights and small panes. A vertically boarded door is set within a simple surround. 20th-century shutters are fitted to the windows. The right (east) section of the building is of gault brick construction, with hipped grey slate roofs and an L-shaped plan. Rear and left chimney stacks are present. Two storeys high, the front left elevation has a small-paned vertically sliding sash window; the right return has two, and the rear right and right return each have one, all with gauged brick arches, those to the ground floor recessed. A round-headed doorway with a 20th-century door and a rayed fanlight is located on the right return, also within a recessed arch.
