Description

Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th or 17th century, with significant modifications made in the 20th century. It is constructed from local lias stone that has been cut and squared, featuring Doulting stone dressings and a Welsh slate roof with overhung gables and stone chimney stacks. The building has two storeys and a five-bay south elevation, which includes a late 18th-century extension on the east gable.

The farmhouse has side-margined sash windows in plain openings, each with voussoired segmental arched heads. There is a 20th-century door located at the lower bay 4, which is topped by a fanlight. Above this, in upper bay 4, is a semi-circular arched window, beneath which is a simple stone plaque inscribed with 'D.K./Manor House/1902'. Additionally, there is another door with a segmental arched fanlight situated between bays 1 and 2.

The east extension, which is one bay wide, features a lower window that is a three-light ovolo-mould timber frame with later casements. The west gable includes a four-light ovolo-mould stone mullioned window, with additional windows on the north elevation. Although the interior was not seen, it has been reported to contain chamfered beams with step and run-out stops, as well as scroll stops. In the east gable wall, there is a wide fireplace with a chamfered beam, and in the northeast corner, there is a chamber with a diameter of 1.8 meters, possibly used for bacon curing, along with traces of two other ovens.
