Description
Post Office Stores is a shop with a house that has origins in the 18th century and has been modified over time. It is constructed from local lias stone that is cut and squared, and it features a colourwashed finish. The roof is made of plain clay tiles and has a stepped coped east gable topped with a ball finial, along with brick chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high with an attic and consists of three bays. An attached building to the first bay forms a double-roofed unit.
The projecting wing has 8-pane casements on both levels, which are set in the upper halves of former doorways, with rendered panels underneath and voussoired flat heads. There is a boarded door in the wing wall to the left. On the west side, a stone stair with a 19th-century wrought iron handrail on balusters leads to a part-glazed door in the upper bay 2. In bay 3, there is a 16-pane sash window above a large 6-pane shop window below, with a 20th-century door in a recess to the left, both situated under a plain hood with a fascia board above. A letter box is set into the wall to the right. The interior has not been seen.
