Description
The Three Old Castles Inn, formerly known as The Three Castles Inn, is an inn that likely dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed from local lias stone that has been cut and squared, and features a clay triple roll tiled roof with coped gables and brick chimney stacks. The building has two storeys and consists of seven bays, with the first four bays representing the main inn.
The upper storey has 12-pane sash windows, with paired windows in bays one and six, while bays five and seven are blank. The lower bay one has boarded doors leading to a cellar, which is situated under a timber lintel. There is a projecting flat-roofed porch from the mid-20th century in bay three, which contains a pair of three-panelled doors. Bay four features a four-pane sash window, while bay five has a part-glazed six-panel door, and bay six has double boarded garage doors. Bay seven includes a flight of stone steps leading to an upper door set in a plain recess under a timber lintel. All openings are plain. The interior has not been seen.
