Description
The Garden House, located 50 metres east of Ireson House, is an 18th-century garden structure designed by Nathaniel Ireson. It is built of ashlar stone and red brick, topped with a clay tile roof. The house features a plain roof and back, with a simple ashlar front that includes an elliptical arch, which has impost blocks and a keystone. This arch is filled with 20th-century glazed doors. Above the arch is a frieze and a shallow cornice that extends to about 3 metres high, matching the height of the main brick wall. This garden house is one of only two surviving summerhouses in Wincanton and complements the nearby Ireson House.
