Description

No. 71 High Street is a house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a Welsh slate roof that is coped on the east side, along with octagonal brick chimney stacks. The building is two stories tall with one bay. It has an ashlar plinth, plain brick pilasters, and a deep wooden eaves cornice. To the left, there is a plain doorway with a gauged brick flat arch, and to the right, a two-story bay window consisting of three panes at the sides and nine panes in the center, each with quasi-fascias and hoods, and a flat roof that is distinguished by an angled eaves cornice. The interior has not been seen. This house exhibits a very individual character.
