Description

The Hermitage is an 18th-century house with an L-shaped design, located on the east side of East Street in Petworth. It has two storeys and features three windows. The building is constructed of ashlar stone, with the first floor of the west wing being tile-hung and accented with red brick dressings and quoins. The roof is tiled, and the west wing has casement windows, while the north wing has sash windows with intact glazing bars, including a curved bay window on both the ground and first floors. The house has a mansarded tiled roof with one modern dormer. It is set back from the road and can be accessed via an alley that runs through a garden.
