Description
13 Aird Street in Portsoy is a substantial house from the earlier 19th century, likely incorporating an 18th-century core. It is a two-storey, four-bay structure built of pinned tooled rubble, with contrasting painted ashlar or rendered margins.
To the north, there is a single-storey, three-bay wing that projects and extends east into the garden. This wing has a harled frontage with contrasting painted margins, a central door, eight-pane glazing, and a piended slate roof.
The main part of the house, known as Aird House, features a two-storey and dormerless attic design with a four-bay frontage. It includes a segmental-headed pend arch in the outer bay and an entrance door flanked by enlarged windows. The first floor has regular fenestration with twelve-pane glazing, and there is a blocked gable attic window. The house has coped end stacks, flat skews with run-off skewputts, and a slate roof.
The rear garden is enclosed by a high rubble wall, which is heightened with brick at the east and north sides.
