Description
This building, located at 9 Aird Street in Portsoy, dates from around 1800 and is a 2-storey, irregular 3-bay house that projects at right angles from the rear of No 1 Aird Street. The exterior is mainly harled, with exposed random rubble at the first-floor level on the south elevation, and features tooled ashlar margins. The entrance is off-centre, with a door flanked by a window on the right. There are small first-floor windows in the outer bays, each with 4-pane glazing. The house has a coped end masonry stack, flat skews, a slate roof, and a sandstone ridge. Attached to the south gable of the house is a simple single-storey L-plan range of byres and stables that was built in the early to mid-19th century. This range is constructed of rubble and also has slate roofs.
