Description

PITNEY CP STOWEY ROAD (East side) ST42NW 6/243 East End Farmhouse, and outbuilding attached it south West corner 17.4.59

GV II

Detached farmhouse. C17 origins, modified including raising of roof, possibly in C19. Local lias stone cut and squared; thatched roof with plain gables; stone and brick chimney stacks. Two storeys, 3 bays irregular fenestration. Two-light C20 casement windows; lower bays 1 and 2 have hood moulds, the remainder timber lintels; between bays 2 and 3 a projecting stone and thatched porch with reused early boarded door in heavy frame. lnterior not seen, but reported is a cross-passage between hall chimney and the kitchen screens, leading into a linhay alongside a lower service wing. Attached to south west corner a farm building in lias stone with clay pantiled roof, replacing thatch, between stepped toped gables; lean-to on east side; doors at two levels on south gable.
