Description

East End Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse with origins dating back to the 17th century, which has been modified over time, including a possible raising of the roof in the 19th century. It is constructed from local lias stone that has been cut and squared, topped with a thatched roof featuring plain gables and stone and brick chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high with three bays and irregular fenestration. It has two-light 20th-century casement windows, with the lower bays one and two featuring hood moulds, while the remaining bays have timber lintels. Between bays two and three, there is a projecting stone and thatched porch that includes a reused early boarded door set in a heavy frame. Although the interior has not been seen, it is reported to have a cross-passage between the hall chimney and the kitchen screens, leading into a linhay next to a lower service wing. Attached to the southwest corner is a farm building made of lias stone with a clay pantiled roof, which has replaced the original thatch. This building features stepped topped gables, a lean-to on the east side, and doors at two levels on the south gable.
