Description
Henshallbrook Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse with origins dating back to the 15th century, which has been modified over time. It is constructed from local lias stone that has been cut and squared, and features a thatched roof with a plain gable on the south side and a hipped roof at the north end. The building is L-shaped, two storeys high, and consists of four bays. The windows are horizontal bar casements of various patterns, mostly three-light, with the exception of the fourth bay, which has two-light windows. Most windows have timber lintels. There is a 20th-century boarded door with a heavy frame located in bay two, set in a slight recess under a timber lintel. The wall line breaks at bay three, where the window projects slightly. A long return wing extends from the north side of the farmhouse, which includes parts of the farmhouse accommodation and has a double Roman clay tile roof, while a lower farm building features a corrugated iron roof. Although the interior was not seen, it has been reported that the roof frame includes jointed crucks, possibly with windbraces.
